The Provincetown Carnival Parade is fast approaching and kicks off at 3:00 pm on Thursday, August 18th! This year's Carnival theme is Back to the 80's, and the theme of PFLAG's float will be The Love Boat! If you would like to participate in the parade as a PFLAG member or supporter, please pay close attention to the important information below.

Our float will incorporate a decorated, 18' boat being pulled by a pickup truck, with the show's theme song playing from a speaker.
On the boat will be the crew, consisting of the five main characters from the television show (Capt. Stubing, Julie, Gopher, Isaac and Doc) portrayed by five PFLAG members in costume and props.
Alongside the boat will be 6 marchers holding up pre-made signs incorporating the lines from the theme song with elements of PFLAG mixed in. Personal messages can be printed neatly on the back of the signs, such as "I love my gay son" for example.
Any additional marchers/participants will be blowing bubbles, handing out Life-Savers candies, and carrying other signs/banners.
All marchers/participants should wear the new PFLAG t-shirts (with the rainbow Cape Cod on the back). T-shirts with the new design will be available for purchase for $17 at the meet-up location.
Any additional banners the Float Committee approves of can be attached to the pickup truck that's pulling the boat.
There is a limited amount of space in the bed of the pickup truck for those unable to walk/march in the parade, available on a first come, first served basis!
Although you're encouraged to bring your own water/beverages, a limited amount of bottled water will be available in the pickup truck.
Anyone interested in marching alongside the float to hold pre-made Love Boat-themed signs, other signs/banners, blow bubbles, and hand out candy should show up at the Harbor Hotel, 698 Commercial Street, at 1:00 pm (please note that traffic will be very heavy and Commercial Street will be closed after 1:00 pm).
Those PFLAG members who have arranged in advance to portray the five characters from the Love Boat should also arrive at 1:00 pm.
The hotel will have restroom facilities available as well as food/lunch for purchase.
Please be aware that a small group of volunteers is already scheduled to arrive earlier in the day to decorate the float, so please do not arrive at the meet-up location prior to the times noted above!
Thanks and we look forward to seeing you next Thursday!
