Support Groups/Meetings of PFLAG Cape Cod

​PFLAG Cape Cod  -  Support group for parents, families, friends, allies, and members of the LGBTQ+ community. Anyone over 18 is welcome (those under must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian, whether in-person or virtual). Visit the Calendar page for dates and the Support Meetings page of this website to learn more about our support meetings.   
  • Virtual via Zoom: first Monday of the month from 7:00-8:00 pm ET via Zoom. The structure and benefits are the same as our in-person meetings, but from the comfort, safety, and convenience of your home. To receive the Zoom link, please sign up for our emails to have the link sent to you at noon on the day of the meeting.
  • In-Person in Brewster: third Monday of the month from 7:00-8:30 pm at First Parish Brewster/UU Church (1969 Main Street/Route 6A, Brewster).
  • Portuguese In-Person & Virtual (hybrid): third Friday of the month from 7:00-8:00 pm ET at Latinx In Action (116 Stevens Street, Hyannis) and online via Zoom. To receive the Zoom link, please sign up for our emails to have the link sent to you at noon on the day of the meeting. Here's a flyer with more information in English and Portuguese. 
  • In-Person in Falmouth: fourth Monday of the month from 7:00-8:30 pm at Unitarian Universalist Fellowhip of Falmouth (840 Sandwich Road, East Falmouth).

​Support Groups/Meetings not Affiliated with PFLAG Cape Cod

Fenway Health's Transgender Adult Support Group   (contact Ann Burke at [email protected] or call 617-515-6679) - For transgender and gender expansive persons regardless of gender identity or expression, ages 18+. Meets the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month from 5:30-7:00 pm via Zoom and in person at the Unitarian Church of Barnstable, 3330 Main Street/Rt. 6A, Barnstable - here's a flyer with more info

Fenway Health's Support Group for Parents/Guardians of Trans/Gender Diverse Children & Youth (1st Thursday of month from 7:00-8:30 pm) - contact [email protected] for the Zoom link - more information ​

RCC Pride  -  A peer support group for LGBTQ+ adults (18 and older). The group is completely free and there is no form of signup required. Allies are also allowed, although this is an LGBTQ+ focused space. more info

Lower Cape LGBT Seniors  -  Social group, typically meets 4th Fridays at Orleans Council on Aging (must register in advance). For more information, contact Judi Wilson at jwilson@town.orleans.ma.us

Mid-Cape LGBT Seniors – Social group that meets at Barnstable Adult Community Center (formerly Barnstable Senior Center). For more information, contact Donna Burns at 508-862-4750.

Yarmouth LGBTQ Older Adult Social Group - Social group that meets at the Yarmouth Senior Center (typically 2nd Wednesday of the month). For more information, call/text 508-534-8665 or email [email protected]

LGBT Alzheimer’s & Dementia Caregiver Support Group – 1st & 3rd Tuesdays at Barnstable Senior Center. For more information, contact Donna Burns at 508-862-4750.

AIDS Support Group of Cape Cod  -  Prevention and screening, and services to help people with HIV/AIDS lead healthy lives. Offices in Provincetown, Hyannis and Falmouth.  www.asgcc.org

Cape Cod Pride - The mission of Cape Cod Pride is to build bridges of understanding, connection, and support among the LGBTQ community, its allies, and the community at large, with the goal of planning and hosting an all-Cape Cod PRIDE Festival in the summer. www.capecodpride.org

Portuguese & Spanish Language Resources from Latinx Roundtable - T
he Latinx Roundtable was created on a basis of love, acceptance and positive transformation. Their work strives to promote understanding, acceptance, and affirmation of Latinx LGBTQ+ persons and their families by transforming Latinx faith communities and the wider Latinx community. Online resources in Portuguese and Spanish.

It Gets Better Project  -  A place where LGBTQ+ young people can see how love and happiness can be a reality in their future.  www.itgetsbetter.org

LGBTQ Mental Health  -  A comprehensive guide by the National LGBT Health Education Center that includes research and statistics on the health disparities within our community. The guide reveals the inconsistencies LGBTQ folk experience in healthcare comparatively, and outlines steps for health centers and organizations to help fight the stigma while providing options and support for our community. www.lgbtqhealtheducation.org

LGBTQ Addiction Guide - A research-based awareness guide on a niche that is often overlooked - addiction in the LGBTQ community. Finding help with substance abuse is often more difficult for LGBTQ people, as many other obstacles are prevalent along with the fight with addiction - this in depth resource helps alleviate that stress by facilitating help in the form of useful information and support systems.

Human Right Campaign -  Largest civil rights organization working to achieve equality for LGBTQ Americans.  www.hrc.com

Family Acceptance Project  - A community research, intervention, education and policy initiative that works to decrease major health and related risks for LGBT youth.  www.familyproject.sfsu.edu

SAGE  - Services and advocacy organization for LGBT elders. National organization with 27 affiliates; closest is in Providence, RI.  www.sageusa.org

LGBTQ Housing Discrimination (by Jaleesa Bustamante) - Covers your rights, steps to take, and discusses homelessness among LGBTQ youth.  www.propertymanagement.com

​Consumers Advocate - An organization dedicated to helping individuals make well-informed decisions. Their online guide can provide members of the LGBTQ+ community with the appropriate resources to use at their convenience, while also being in a safe space to express their feelings/concerns and not feel judged while doing so.  www.consumersadvocate.org

GSA Network  -  A national youth leadership organization that strives to educate schools and communities, advocate for justice, and prevent harassment and violence.  www.gsanetwork.org

Intelligent.com  -  If you’re a prospective college student who identifies as LGBTQ+, it’s important that you research schools to make sure they’ve created a supportive environment. Intelligent.com has created a LGBTQ+ College Student Guide that will show you how to research colleges and review additional topics such as the unique challenges LGBTQ+ students face and the resources and legal rights available to them.
